Confession is not about pretending to be perfect, but about having the humility to acknowledge our sins, trust in God's mercy, and allow Him to help us begin again.
On the memorial of St Padre Pio, we are reminded that taking up our cross means more than simply enduring suffering. Like St Paul, Padre Pio sought to let Christ live in him, offering his prayer, ministry and suffering in union with Christ. Our own crosses may be much more ordinary: pain, disappointment, loneliness, difficult relationships or the things we can no longer do; but the Gospel invites us to carry them with Christ, trusting that even in suffering, we are never alone.
What does it really mean to live as a Catholic man? Drawing on Luke’s Parable of the Sower and the example of St Joseph, this reflection asks a simple but challenging question: if someone watched the way I lived for a week, would they recognise that I am a follower of Jesus Christ? Our faith is not simply something we profess at Mass. The Word of God is meant to take root in us and bear fruit, reflected in our families, relationships, work and everyday choices. Inspired by Thomas à Kempis, we are reminded that following Christ means more than knowing about Him: it means learning to imitate Him.
Ecumenism asks us to step beyond what is familiar without abandoning the truth or fullness of our Catholic faith. We arrive confidently as Catholics, while listening to other Christians and recognising God's work among them. Our differences remain, but so does our shared faith in Christ. Ecumenism holds truth and unity together, with our eyes fixed on Christ.

Today, that heritage is not simply something to remember, but a call to renewal, to rebuild our families, communities and nation upon Christ and once again bear good fruit.
A short monthly reflection inspired by Isaiah 43:19, inviting us to begin each new month with hope, prayer and trust in God.
John the Baptist spoke an uncomfortable truth to Herod and paid for it with his life, a reminder that faithfulness and a happy ending are not the same thing.
